Payson Lakes This Weekend

All day Friday Wayne packed us up for a weekend up at Payson Lakes. He did an amazing job getting us already to go. After he came and picked up me up from work we packed up the car and head to the store to buy food for the night. Derek and Rose came camping with us. We actually didn't make it up to camp until close to 9:00. We all stayed Derek and Rose's giant tent. We could of easily fit 3 air mattresses in there.

After we set up camp and I made a fire, which Wayne helped to save, we all set around and roasted hot dogs. We had hot dogs, chips and potatoes salad. We sat around the camp fire until we were ready for bed. We had all forgot to pack pillows it was a hard night to sleep. When we got up we had eggs and ground sausage. When we were picking up food we forgot to pick up other stuff for it. Oops! Oh well it was really good any was. We only picked up food for dinner and breakfast for the first day so we had to go home. Which was a good thing because we needed pillows and blankets (Derek and Rose were a bit cold that night). Then we head back up to Payson Lakes to go fishing. We got to the lake and realized that the boys left the worms at the campsite. So the girls went to the campsite to go get the worms and the boys stayed behind to get poles ready. They got their poles ready while the girls carried the pop in the cooler and worms around the lake to where we were set up. Wayne casted 3 time and had caught a fish. He got so excited to fish he forgot to set up my pole. So when I got back I had to remind him. The boys were catching fish and I wasn't. Which made me really frustrated. I thought a couple time about throwing my pole in the water but I was really good at losing lures.

I whipped one around and it flew into the water. The other one I did really well and caught it in a dead tree that was near us. There were a couple people on boats and one of them got it out of the tree for me. They were so nice. My pretty dead tree. Note to self never cast a lure near here the tree will eat it and not give it back.
We found someone what was getting lots and lots of fish. We asked them what they were using. After that I was catching fish right and left. I would pretty much throw my line into the water and within 5 to 10 minutes I would either have a fish or they were biting. Derek and I actually ended up catching 4 fish each. While Wayne caught 5. We threw a bunch of them back because they were so tiny but we did keep 8. Yes I actually did touch the fish. It was really gross but the main point is I, Melissa Hendrix, did touch a fish.
After fishing we went up to camp and to make dinner. When we got back to our camp ground there was a baby bird sitting on our table. Wayne went up to it and it tried to fly away. It didn't make it really far. It went head on in to the car. It was really sad. The boys tried to clean it up a little bit and then let it go. I am hoping that it just flew away and is happy. Because we didn't see it after a minute or two of letting it go. Wayne and I had fish from the lake (which he did a great job in cooking). I don't remember how long it has been since I have had fresh fish straight from the lake. We are so going to have to do that again. Rose and Derek had tin foil dinners. Wayne was so excited to try his hand at cobbler. I have to brag he did an amazing job. I think I will let him keep on cooking.
Wayne and I stayed up late taking pictures of stars. We have decided that we keep the lens open for way to long. We are going to keep playing with the camera until we get the perfect star pictures. I posted the really cool ones up. We let the lens stay open for 2 to 5 minutes. It is really cool that you can see the stars moving. I love the picture of the big dipper.

We got up in the morning made breakfast and broke up camp. It is amazing how it is much easier to break camp then set up camp. On our way home we saw the beautiful field we had to have pictures of.

I think some of our pictures turned out great. I can't wait to go camping again.
