Payson Lakes This Weekend

All day Friday Wayne packed us up for a weekend up at Payson Lakes. He did an amazing job getting us already to go. After he came and picked up me up from work we packed up the car and head to the store to buy food for the night. Derek and Rose came camping with us. We actually didn't make it up to camp until close to 9:00. We all stayed Derek and Rose's giant tent. We could of easily fit 3 air mattresses in there.

After we set up camp and I made a fire, which Wayne helped to save, we all set around and roasted hot dogs. We had hot dogs, chips and potatoes salad. We sat around the camp fire until we were ready for bed. We had all forgot to pack pillows it was a hard night to sleep. When we got up we had eggs and ground sausage. When we were picking up food we forgot to pick up other stuff for it. Oops! Oh well it was really good any was. We only picked up food for dinner and breakfast for the first day so we had to go home. Which was a good thing because we needed pillows and blankets (Derek and Rose were a bit cold that night). Then we head back up to Payson Lakes to go fishing. We got to the lake and realized that the boys left the worms at the campsite. So the girls went to the campsite to go get the worms and the boys stayed behind to get poles ready. They got their poles ready while the girls carried the pop in the cooler and worms around the lake to where we were set up. Wayne casted 3 time and had caught a fish. He got so excited to fish he forgot to set up my pole. So when I got back I had to remind him. The boys were catching fish and I wasn't. Which made me really frustrated. I thought a couple time about throwing my pole in the water but I was really good at losing lures.

I whipped one around and it flew into the water. The other one I did really well and caught it in a dead tree that was near us. There were a couple people on boats and one of them got it out of the tree for me. They were so nice. My pretty dead tree. Note to self never cast a lure near here the tree will eat it and not give it back.
We found someone what was getting lots and lots of fish. We asked them what they were using. After that I was catching fish right and left. I would pretty much throw my line into the water and within 5 to 10 minutes I would either have a fish or they were biting. Derek and I actually ended up catching 4 fish each. While Wayne caught 5. We threw a bunch of them back because they were so tiny but we did keep 8. Yes I actually did touch the fish. It was really gross but the main point is I, Melissa Hendrix, did touch a fish.
After fishing we went up to camp and to make dinner. When we got back to our camp ground there was a baby bird sitting on our table. Wayne went up to it and it tried to fly away. It didn't make it really far. It went head on in to the car. It was really sad. The boys tried to clean it up a little bit and then let it go. I am hoping that it just flew away and is happy. Because we didn't see it after a minute or two of letting it go. Wayne and I had fish from the lake (which he did a great job in cooking). I don't remember how long it has been since I have had fresh fish straight from the lake. We are so going to have to do that again. Rose and Derek had tin foil dinners. Wayne was so excited to try his hand at cobbler. I have to brag he did an amazing job. I think I will let him keep on cooking.
Wayne and I stayed up late taking pictures of stars. We have decided that we keep the lens open for way to long. We are going to keep playing with the camera until we get the perfect star pictures. I posted the really cool ones up. We let the lens stay open for 2 to 5 minutes. It is really cool that you can see the stars moving. I love the picture of the big dipper.

We got up in the morning made breakfast and broke up camp. It is amazing how it is much easier to break camp then set up camp. On our way home we saw the beautiful field we had to have pictures of.

I think some of our pictures turned out great. I can't wait to go camping again.

Going Back to School

School starts on Wednesday. I am actually going to start taking classes again. With as busy as our lives are we have decided that I could pull off classes. Besides everyone loves to be around me when I am stressed out. I don't think it is going to be that bad. I am going to be taking Personal Income Tax this semester. I have been working for a company that works with United Way to do a program called VITA. It is really cool. Its doing taxes for lower income families. I have been working with this program for the last two years. I am still nervous but really excited to be back into school. I have class Tuesday and Thursday nights. Wayne on the other hand looks like he has a full schedule a head of him again. Luckily this semester he is only trying for 14 credits unlike last semesters 21. He is going to be taking Biology 2, Organic Chemistry and Physics 2. Wayne's plan is to still TA the Anatomy class so he can stay up on that. He has to take the MCAT sometime this school year because this next summer he has to start applying of medical schools. I can't believe he has been home for a year now and I love having him home (even with his crazy busy life he has pulled me into). Hopefully we will be able to see each other one night a week. Here are our books.

I would love to be a kid again

Wayne is out at drill so I went and spent the night at Mom and Richards house tonight. Boy do they have a full house. April and her kids are up from Las Vegas, Derek and Rose are up from ST. George and they all are babysitting Travis and Crystal kids. Travis and Crystal are at a fundraiser for Giant Steps tonight. Boy did the kids play and play and play together. They were playing in the dirt so much that Aprils daughter was covered. They are all young enough that all 5 were thrown in the bath tubs. Rose was turning on and off the shower. She actually covered mom in water. After showers they sat down and watch "Sword and the Bone" (sword and the stone) according to April oldest. They all laid down on a twin size mattress and cuddle. We got the youngest ones up there. They really didn't enjoy it much. Boy to I love these kids.

One Day I will Make One of These

So today is a run day and I didn't go. Instead I went with my Mother-in-law and Sister-in-law to a quilt show in Springville. I like to sew and would love to one day be good enough to make a full quilt. Acutally I would just like to finish the quilt I started so long ago. It was a lot of fun to be out with the girls. My mother-in-law an amazing person and has such an eye for detail. It was really interesting to see what she would point out. Here are a couple of my favorite quilts. Of course I had a camera with me. I don't leave the house without one. I might leave my cell phone at home but I normally have my camera with me.

Our New Game

About a month ago we decided that with Wayne going into the Army full time that we were going learn how to golf. We had nothing going on one Saturday so we called up and saw if we could get golf lessons. It was $45 for the both of us for a full hour with an instuctor all to ourselves. It was a lot of fun. The instructor took us out to the driving range and taught us how to swing. Wayne has played golf before but I have never done anything like this. I love Mini Putt Putt so I thought I would really enjoy this. I LOVE it. It felt good to just be able to hit a ball and watch it go flying. I am not any good but it is actually a lot of fun. The instructor gave us each of golf club to borrow until we bought some and said go home and practices your swing. Wayne started hitting apples in our back yard and they were going into the peoples yard next doors. We decided that this was something that we liked to do together and so we bought ourselves each a set of golf clubs. I am sure its no ones surprise that mine were bright pink. I even got bright pink golf balls. They are so cute. We also bought a practice net, a practice mat and lots of golf balls. We now go into the back yard and just hit balls. It is lots of fun and I am getting a lot better. We have had 2 lessons so far and hope to have more. We are actually going to play our first 9 holes next weekend. I can't wait. Here are pictures of my Golf Clubs.

My New Cute Golf Balls

I dropped the keys in the bottom of my bag so I had to pull out all my clubs to get them out. This is how they landed.

My First Post

Since everyone else I know in the world has a blog, I have decided it was time I did. I know lots of people who start them and then don't keep up with them. So I hope I am not one of those people. Time will tell. I am waiting for Katelin to come back so that I can make this pretty. Here is to hoping I keep this up.
